Gallery 3 - The Town - Pulford School

The Original Pulford School Building

Pulford School was first built in Church Square in 1790, by the Hon. Mary Leigh of the Manor House. Later funding for the school was provided by a bequest from Rev. Joshua Pulford of All Saints Church and thus given his name. The school remained on Church Square until 1884 when a new site was provided by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. (It was thought the noise and din of the market animals in Church Square distracted the pupils).
